Exploding Kittens - A card game for people who are into kittens and explosions
Created by Elan Lee (Xbox, ARGs), Matthew Inman (The Oatmeal), and Shane Small (Xbox, Marvel), Exploding Kittens made history when it became the most-backed game in Kickstarter history and the campaign with the most number of backers, ever.
It is a highly-strategic, kitty-powered version of Russian Roulette. Players draw cards until someone draws an Exploding Kitten, at which point they explode, they are dead, and they are out of the game — unless that player has a Defuse card, which can defuse the kitten using things like laser pointers, belly rubs, and catnip sandwiches. All of the other cards in the deck are used to move, mitigate, or avoid the Exploding Kittens.
- Includes 56 cards (2.5 x 3.5 inches), box, and instructions
- Can be played by itself or combined with other decks to accommodate more players
- For Ages 7 and up
- 2 - 5 Players
- 2 Minutes to learn
- 15 Minutes average play time
- This box, like 99.99% of boxes, does not meow
HOW IT WORKS:
You put the cards face down on the table and take turns drawing from them. If you draw a kitten card, you explode!
When you explode, you die and you are out of the game (which is a bad thing).
Unless!
You play a defuse card which can defuse the kitten things like laser pointers and catnip sandwiches.
Or
You can play various cards to skip your turn, attack other players, peek at the deck, or secretly relocate* the exploding kittens.
* Relocating an exploding kitten card to a new location in the deck lets you form complex, fun, and cruel strategies against other players.
Also!
You can play cat cards, which are different from exploding kittens. Cat cards activate special powers when played as multiples.
The gameplay is unique because the longer you play, the greater your odds of exploding and the more intense the game gets.
The game mechanics were designed by two seasoned game designers: Elan Lee & Shane Small.
The cards were written and illustrated by The Oatmeal
